Band together and HELP Tunee craft a "copyright compliant" platform

Hello, I am Chris Pati, professional Musician, label owner and founder of www.indimusic.tv and www.modernvoices.us. I propose we “Band” together and craft a path to reinstate the great Tunee momel that was abandoned yesterday. The tech was amazing, helpful, pushed the boundaries… which is EXACTLT what tech and Art coming together should do! I understand exactly why Tunee made the decisions they have. They need MONEY!!! They need connections and “clout” to form an alliance or workaround the copyright issues they face. Like Udo and Sono did. BUT they BOTH did it wrong. They hurt their subscriber base and realigned with the Major Label pressure machine. We as Musicians (and I as a leader in the Independent Music community) hereby request we ALL figure out a way to get Tunee back on track with what was an unbelievable leap they have made into the future of music and music creation. retreat is not a path forward. Tune execs…PLEASE let’s use our collective experience, knowledge and tenacity to forge a path forward for the original great “ground breaking” modem these brilliant people at Tunee created. Let’s not BASH them…let’s band together and HELP them. yes, they are a threat to the current wilting “Major Label” Business model…but things will move forward…ai will progress…there’s no stopping that. Someone else will do it if Tunee does not. That is 100% for sure. So, let’s band together and figure out a way to move forward now backward which is what the current model change is embracing. Thank you for your time and consideration. PLEASE continue this conversation. God bless!

I want to be clear that my frustration isn’t really directed at Tunee. I’m grateful for what they created — it was a genuinely fun and inspiring product. I got a lot out of it, including bringing old recordings back to life that I had long considered lost.

My anger is directed more at the current copyright system, which I believe actively suppresses creativity and experimentation. Tunee didn’t fail creatively — if anything, the problem is that the product was ahead of its time while we’re still operating under laws that were never designed for this kind of technology. We’re in a situation where music remains locked down decades after the creator’s death, and even cultural icons like Elvis or Mickey Mouse are still heavily protected. That disconnect is hard to ignore.

I would gladly re-subscribe if the original Tunee model returned — not only for personal reasons, but because I want to support companies that take real creative risks and push innovation forward instead of retreating.

For context, most of what I’ve done with Tunee has been covers and reinterpretations of very old material — military music from the 1500s through 1800s, reimagined as rock or 8-bit chiptune. This wasn’t about money at all, just creativity and enjoyment. Historically, that’s how music existed for most of human history: ritual, movement, community, and expression. Commercial music and modern copyright are comparatively recent developments — and personally, not ones I find very inspiring.

So while I understand the pressures Tunee is under, it’s hard not to feel that something genuinely special was lost. I hope there’s still room for dialogue and for finding a way forward that doesn’t abandon what made the platform exciting in the first place.

For context, I am a sound technician, and I’ve been genuinely impressed by how far this technology has come in such a short time — particularly in Tunee’s case. In terms of musical quality and creative usefulness, it’s well beyond anything else I’ve personally encountered.

It is a exponential leap…and that’s why they are a threat. They need to go back to their incredible model and embrace and stick with their creation. It’s always an uphill battle when you do something first. I experienced that with www.indimusic.tv when I first launched. You have to be willing to “pull up your big boy pants” and stand behind your innovation.
