A Message to the Tunee Forum Regarding the Dec 31 Update

Hello everyone,

First of all, thank you to everyone who has taken the time to share feedback here on the forum. We’ve carefully reviewed the discussions following the December 31 update, and we want you to know that your voices are being heard.

We understand that some users have experienced changes in generation quality and creative consistency after this update. We also recognize that certain feature adjustments — including the temporary removal of the cover feature — have caused frustration and disappointment. And we recognize that its absence may make Tunee feel difficult to continue using at this moment. It’s completely understandable that this has led some users to reconsider their subscriptions.

We want to be open about one thing: this update and the decisions behind it were not easy for our team. This has been a very challenging period for us as well. Due to copyright, compliance, and system stability considerations, we had to make these changes. What we can say is that none of these decisions were made lightly.

What we want to emphasize most is this: this is a period of transition, not the end of Tunee’s direction.

Tunee’s long-term vision remains unchanged. Our goal is to be a reliable partner for creators on their path to success, helping make creation simpler, more efficient, and more sustainable. While this transitional period may feel challenging or uncomfortable, it is a necessary step toward creating a more stable and sustainable foundation for the future.

All feedback shared in this forum — critical or supportive — is being actively reviewed by our product and operation teams. Your voices matter deeply, and this community continues to play an important role in shaping what Tunee becomes next.

We fully understand that some users may choose to step away during this time, and we respect that decision. For those who choose to stay with us through this period, please know that we are committed to improving the experience with care, transparency, and respect for creators.

As we move into the new year, we sincerely wish every creator inspiration, growth, and success in your creative journey. Thank you for being part of the Tunee community and continuing to speak openly with us.

Wishing you a Happy New Year.

2026.1.1

We want to clarify one important technical point. The cover feature was built on a core capability that preserves the original melody while modifying other elements such as lyrics and arrangement. Because this underlying technology had to be taken offline, that capability is currently unavailable across the board. As a result, even original demos created by users are temporarily unable to use melody-preserving lyric edits.

We understand how frustrating this feels, especially for creators working on their own original music. Our ideal direction — and what the team is actively working toward — is to clearly distinguish between user-created original music and externally copyrighted material, and to allow users to perform melody-preserving edits on their own works. This is something we’re actively developing and accelerating internally.

That said, we want to be honest: while we are working hard on this, we can’t promise a version rollback, and we also can’t commit to a specific timeline or date right now. Some of the constraints we’re dealing with make that impossible at this stage, and we’d rather be upfront about that than make promises we can’t guarantee.

In the meantime, we hope our refund policy can help reduce the losses for users who feel the platform no longer meets their needs right now. If you decide to request a refund, we completely understand and respect that choice.

:backhand_index_pointing_right: If you would like a refund, please email support@tunee.ai with your Tunee registration email. We will assist you from there.

*This special refund policy valid before 2026.1.14.

I’m writing this as a long-time user who actually relied on Tunee for real musical work, not just experimentation.

With the latest update, Tunee no longer respects one of its most valuable features:

the ability to preserve the original melody, vocal identity, and structure of an existing song.

For many of us, Tunee was useful precisely because it allowed:

- adding or processing vocals without changing the melody

- keeping the original singer’s gender and vocal character

- working on our own compositions in a controlled, professional way

After the update, generations feel overly “creative” and reinterpret everything, which completely breaks existing workflows. This is not an evolution — it’s a loss of functionality.

Creativity is great, but control is essential for musicians.

Removing or disabling that control makes the tool unusable for serious users.

I truly hope the team considers:

- restoring the previous behavior, or

- offering a legacy / advanced mode where melody, voice identity, and structure are strictly preserved

Many users here are not complaining for fun — we are cancelling subscriptions because the tool no longer does what it used to do well.

Please listen to your community. Tunee was great because it respected the music.

Hello, Tunee Team.

We understand what the Tunee Team is saying about copyright, but it’s important to note that 90% or more of this app’s users are not creators or skilled musicians; we are simply content creators or music enthusiasts. Regarding copyright, of course, it all depends on the individual uploading the music from this app, for example, to YouTube. YouTube itself has its own rules regarding song usage and copyright. I can no longer use this app because the cover feature is not available in Indonesian or other regional languages. I hereby request the Tunee Team to reinstate the cover feature as usual.

Warm greetings from Indonesia.

I don't think the fact that Tunee no longer respects the lyrics offered to it, nor maintains a mood and melody in its creations, has anything to do with copyright. Before December 31st, it made songs with soft, melodic female vocals (if that's what the prompt indicated), had a multitude of musical instruments and sound effects perfectly integrated into the final result, and most importantly, respected and maintained the melody and mood of a song from beginning to end. In all of this, there was nothing to do with copyright; it was the best music generator that existed. I hope that one day everything will return to how it was before that horrible December 31st. My hopes of creating beautiful music turned into frustration and disappointment. Please, give us back that spectacular music creation engine that inspired so many. And I repeat, copyright has nothing to do with generating good, original songs. Regards.

It’s not an update, it’s a bad joke (with all due respect…). I even thought after the update that someone had hacked the website, seriously! It’s gone from being something truly creative, inspiring, and even moving to something robotic, generic, and soulless. I understand that updates can improve what’s already there and even encourage others to pay for a subscription, but what I don’t understand is how you can just throw everything away and leave not only many users with unfinished projects, but also a truly incredible concept forgotten. It’s a real shame…

C’mon Tunee, You could of had a different approach to this. We understand copyright issues are a big liability, however you could have mitigated that rather than remove it completely. For us that use it for covering our own demos, melodies etc… that was the most important thing about Tunee. Why don’t you make it available only for paid users, have us confirm under penalty of pergury that we own the lyrics to the track we are covering, or some security measures to CYA. But removing it completely and then using all these different models? Like Mureka?? Really? I have a paid sub on their platform and even the 02 model still sucks! This is just such a deal breaker. Now I am sticking to solely S u n o and hoping another platform is born. Thanks and BYE Tunee!

I create primarily classical instrumental music, and after the update, organ is abscent and rock-drums and guitars, dup-step rythms and weird noises suddenly drop in to say hello. Even generating additional tracks from same thread result in completely different music, from classical to rock. No consistency AT ALL anymore.

Post-update, Tunee is completely unusable to me, and I am close to cancelling my membership plan, since I have lost my favorite music-tool.

I have never experienced an update screw up a product like this before. Very sad indeed.

Bring back the previous functionality, PLEEEEEEEASE!!!

Hello Tunee Team,

I understand the point and importance of copyright, but there are also solutions for complying with and granting this as best as possible. It’s not just Tunee that is affected by this; other platforms must also do everything possible to prevent copyright infringements. But there are various interfaces that could be implemented for this purpose.

For example, you could use the ShazamAPI. This recognizes an extremely wide variety of musical works. It not only recognizes normal music, but also many other areas covered by copyright. They could also offer a reporting system for infringements.

But copyright isn’t the only thing that has changed. Unfortunately, the quality of the results has also deteriorated dramatically. I don’t want to be rude, but when I tested the three new music engines, I felt like I had been transported back to the MIDI music Stone Age. The generated music had nothing to do with my style, nor did the result sound remotely “professional.”

As I mentioned in my other post, this has only been the case since the update. Before that, I had some very good results that made Tunee a serious competitor for other AI music generators. I will continue to follow the development of Tunee, but without the possibility of cover versions of my own music and a noticeable increase in the quality of the results—as was the case before the update—I don’t see a bright future for Tunee.

I understand that it’s copyright, but what does it have to do with the fact that you removed the Polish language from the vocals?. I will wait a week to see if anything changes in this matter, if not I will cancel the subscription

Good morning, Thank you for your explanations, I understand. In relation to copyright subject, I have a question related to the data to train tunee’s music generator. As I want to create music for my church to be used with no worries, I want to be sure that your model was trained with copyright free, royalty free or music you own the rights. With recent outcomes from SUNO’s and UDIO’s cases it will be better for users to stick with AI’s companies using really copyright free music. I will appreciate your response. Thank you.

For the second day in a row, I am unable to generate a single usable track.
The prompts I write consistently produce strange, creepy results that have nothing to do with what I actually describe. As a result, I am wasting credits on outputs that are completely unusable and end up being deleted immediately.
Another major issue is track length. The default duration (around 2.5 minutes) is far too short for any serious or professional project. This limitation alone makes the platform difficult to use, and in my opinion it discourages many users from committing to it long-term.
There are also persistent problems with instruction-following. The AI often ignores guidance related to vocal performance, lyrics, melody, or overall structure. Even when prompts are very explicit, the output does not reflect them in any reliable way.
At this point, most of my recent generations are unusable and get deleted right away.
Could someone please clarify:
Why prompt adherence has become so inconsistent?
Whether longer track durations will be supported?
And how I can request a refund or credit compensation, since most of the recent generations were effectively wasted and had to be deleted?

Thank you

Hello,

After the recent update, I noticed that the feature allowing existing songs to be re-played with new instruments or alternative backing arrangements has been removed.

This feature was essential for many users who:

  • perform anonymous works,

  • use legally licensed songs,

  • create covers or interpretative performances
    without necessarily composing original music.

Not every user is a composer, and they should not be forced to be one.
Copyright and publishing responsibility already lies with the user, and restricting such functionality significantly limits creative freedom on the platform.

I also see that many other users have submitted similar feedback. I strongly request that this instrumental/re-arrangement feature be reconsidered and reinstated.

Otherwise, I regret to say that I will have to cancel my membership, despite being a long-term user.

Thank you for taking this feedback into consideration.

Kind regards,
